Troubleshooting and Repairs

Electrical issues can be frustrating. When something goes wrong with your home’s power, you don’t need a guessing game; you need an expert. Our certified electricians specialize in tracking down hidden electrical faults and fixing them correctly the first time, restoring safety and comfort to your home.

Common Issues we diagnose and fix every day:

  • Tripping Breakers:

If a specific circuit keeps shutting down, we’ll find out if it’s an overloaded circuit, a short circuit, or a faulty breaker.

  • Dead Outlets or Switches:

Hidden wire breaks or burnt out connections can kill power to half a room. We trace the line to find the exact cause.

  • Flickering or Dimming Lights:

Often a sign of loose main service wires, or grid fluctuations, that can damage your appliances if left ignored.

  • Warm Outlets or Burning Smells (Do not wait on this.):

Discoloration, warmth, or a plastic odor indicates active electrical arcing and is an immediate fire hazard.

Don’t ignore the warning signs. Let’s get it fixed today!

  • This is almost always caused by a tripped GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet. These outlets constantly monitor electrical current and shut off instantly if they detect a dangerous surge or moisture leak. Because they are often wired in a "daisy chain," one tripped GFCI outlet can cut power to several normal-looking outlets down the line.

The Fix: Look around the room (and sometimes nearby rooms or even the garage) for an outlet with two small buttons in the middle. Firmly press the RESET button until you hear a click. If it trips again instantly, leave it alone and call us—there is a live fault in your line.

  • A brief, split-second flicker can happen when a large appliance starts up because it draws a massive amount of "inrush current." However, if your lights dim deeply or continue flickering while the appliance runs, your electrical panel is struggling. This usually means you have an overloaded circuit, loose wiring in your breaker box, or a main electrical service line that needs an upgrade.

The Fix: This is a fire hazard that requires a diagnostic check. Do not try to tighten panel wires yourself; contact us to schedule a thermal and load test on your breaker panel.

  • If a breaker trips the exact second you flip it back to the "ON" position, do not force it or tape it down. This is called a "hard fault." The breaker is doing its job to protect your home from an electrical fire caused by a short circuit or a severely overloaded line.

The Fix: Unplug everything on that specific circuit and try to reset it one more time. If it still trips immediately with nothing plugged in, the issue is inside your walls or within the breaker itself. Turn the breaker completely off and call us immediately.

  • Yes, this is an electrical emergency. When electrical wires arc (spark) or overheat, the plastic casing and chemical insulation begin to melt, releasing a distinct, pungent odor that smells exactly like fish or burning chemicals.

The Fix: Immediately go to your main breaker panel and shut off the power to that room. Do not use the outlet, do not plug anything into it, and call an emergency electrician right away.
